Events

General event descriptions are found here.  Please check with a Chiropractic Games Coordinator with specific questions.

All events have minimum number of participants.  Please check your specific sport to see that you have the minimum number of participants.  For example:
Tennis - must have a minimum of three people, at least one being of the opposite sex of the others.
Running - must have a minimum of five.

All schools are limited to two teams per event.

Officials have the authority to rule promptly, and in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

Men's Basketball
Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location
: Cocoa Beach High School/Roosevelt Junior High School
FORMAT: 
  • Tournament is pool play with a single elimination play-off.
  • Teams listed first on the schedule will be home team.
  • Teams must have four players to begin play.
  • There will be a running clock with the exception of the last two minutes of the game.
  • Overtime period: three minutes, stop clock last minute.
  • There will be a five-minute halftime.
  • Play-off will be seeded according to won lost records. In case of a tie, tiebreakers are: 1.) head to head competition; 2.) point differential; 3.) total points scored; 4.) coin flip. 
  • Men's basketball will count towards the overall team standings.
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams.

RULES:

  • NCAA rules will apply.
  • Only captains can talk to referees.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in ejection.
  • Shot clock will not be in effect.
  • Five fouls limit per player
  • Two timeouts, per half, per team.
  • One timeout in overtime, per team.
  • Timeouts do not rollover
  • Uniforms must have permanent number on front and back
  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. All those in violation of this police will be required to leave the venue being utilized.
  • No alcohol is allowed on any Chiropractic Games shuttle or venue. Anyone caught with alcohol will be asked to leave the premise, no exceptions.
Women's Basketball

Flag Football

Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location:
Cocoa Beach Sports Complex
FORMAT:

  • Tournament is pool play with a single elimination play-off.
  • Pool play will determine seeds for tournament. .
  • The game shall be played between two teams seven players each.
  • The game will be played on a field 80' by 55' and divided at 20-yard segments.
  • The game will consist of two twenty minute halves with a ten minute halftime. The clock will stop during the last two minutes of the second half.
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams.
  • Flag football will count towards the overall team standings.
  • Play-off will be seeded according to won lost records. In case of a tie, tiebreakers are: 1.) head to head competition; 2.) point differential; 3.) total points scored; 4.) coin flip. 

RULES:

  • A minimum of five players are required to avoid a forfeit.
  • A first down is gained by advancing ball past the next 20-yard line.
  • If a ball hits the ground or fumbles, it is "dead".
  • Each team is allowed one, one minute time out per half. Time outs do not carry over.
  • The referee has the right to start or stop a clock if one team is stalling.
  • Neither team can advance past their scrimmage lines on punts.
  • NO metal cleats will be allowed
  • All overtime periods will be played toward the same goal line. Each team will be given four downs to score from the ten yard line. If the first team scores, the other team will have four downs to score.
  • Game time is forfeit time.

  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. Golf

Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location: Cocoa Beach Country Club
FORMAT:
The First Day Scramble Format

  • Format will be two-man scramble competition. Each four person team must designate how their team will be divided. Each two-man team will be paired with a two-man team from another school to comprise your foursome. Teams will play the best shot between the two individuals. Scores will be added between the two groups of each four man team.
  • To qualify for the team awards you must field a minimum of one team (four people, two two-man teams). If you have additional teams, the top four two-man team scores will be utilized in determining the overall team placement. All participants are still eligible to place in the overall individual awards.
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams.
  • The golf tournament will be counted in the overall standings. Scores from both rounds will be tallied to determine overall winners.

The second day will be individual scoring. Each four-man team will be allowed to toss out their highest score and count the best three scores for the team standings.
RULES:

  • Entry Fee: $80/golfer includes cart. This price is for both days.

Men's Soccer

Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location: Cocoa Beach Sports Complex
FORMAT:

  • Five a side and goalkeeper (six-on-six play). .
  • Tournament is pool play with a single elimination play-off.
  • Forfeit after a five-minute grace period will be posted as a 3-0 score.
  • In pool play, points will be awarded as 3 pts for win, 1 pt for tie and 0 pts for a loss. In case of a tie, tiebreakers are: 1.) head to head competition; 2.) point(3,1,0) differential; 3.) total goals scored scored; 4.) coin flip.
  • Games will consist of two twenty minute halves with a five-minute halftime.
  • Tie at end of regulation will result in one 5 minute over time then a shoot out. 
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams..
  • Men's soccer will be counted towards the overall team standings.
  • Uniforms must have permanent number on front and back

RULES:

  • Teams must have both light and dark jerseys, with numbers on back.
  • NO metal cleats allowed
  • Goalkeeper can not punt or throw ball past midfield line before ball is touched (Penalty restart will be indirect free kick from center line)
  • No off-sides violations
  • One referee per match
  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. All those in violation of this police will be required to leave the venue being utilized.
  • No alcohol is allowed on any Chiropractic Games shuttle or venue. Anyone caught with alcohol will be asked to leave the premise, no exceptions.

Women's Soccer

Softball

Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location: Cocoa Beach Sports Complex
FORMAT:

  • Tournament is pool play with a single elimination play-off.
  • The tournament is coed (must have at least three women on field and in lineup at all times)
  • Rain Outs - see rain out rules.
  • Pool play will determine seed in tournament according to won lost records. In case of a tie, tie breakers are: 1.) Head to head competition; 2.) run differential; 3.) total runs scored; 4.) coin flip.
  • Softball will be counted towards the overall team standings.
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams.
  • Uniforms must have permanent number on front and back
  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. All those in violation of this police will be required to leave the venue being utilized.
  • No alcohol is allowed on any Chiropractic Games shuttle or venue. Anyone caught with alcohol will be asked to leave the premise, no exceptions.

RULES:

  • The tournament will be played under modified ASA Rules.
  • There must be three female players in the field/batting order. There is no specific order that the females must bat.
  • Walking a male batter ahead of a female batter is illegal. The female will automatically take first base.
  • Outfielders will not be allowed inside the female batter line in the outfield until the ball is hit.
  • Game time is forfeit time.
  • Modified ASA Rules:
  1. Arc limit for pitches will be 6-12 feet from ground.
  2. Initial count on batter will be one-and-one. Each batter will be permitted one foul ball after two strikes. The second foul ball after two strikes will be counted as a strikeout.
  3. Chiro Games umpires will examine all bats in the dugout and let them know if they can use them or not. NO MODIFIED BATS ALLOWED .
  4. Use of illegal bat will result in out…player remains in game.
  5. No home run limit.
  6. Run rules may be in effect if a team leads by 10 or more runs after the fifth inning.
  7. We will use a COR ball (.47) ball (same ball for men and women)
  8. Games will last 55 minutes or seven innings (whichever comes first)
  9. Co-ed rules
    a. Outfielders must stay behind the line until ball is hit when a woman is batting
    b. Must have at least three women in the lineup and on the field at all times
    c. Women can not bat consecutively in the lineup
    d. If a man walks in front of a woman batter, the man advances to second and the woman takes first base
  10. NO METAL SPIKES AT ANY TIME ON ANY CHIRO GAMES FIELD
  11. Team uniforms must include number on back (front number optional)
  12. No deceptive pitching motions

Rain Outs:

  • Friday rain out: If games are rained out on Friday, pool play will be played out on Saturday to determine winners.
  • Saturday rain out: If games are rained out on Saturday, games from pool play on Friday will determine winners.
  • Pool winners would be determined by a)win-loss record, b)points for and against.

Tennis

Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location: Cocoa Beach Country Club
FORMAT:

  • Tournament is pool play with a play-off round.
  • Matches consist of men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles.
  • Games will be pro sets to six games with a tiebreaker at five.
  • Match winner is determined by total events won.
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams.
  • Teams will call their own points.
  • Tennis will be counted towards the overall team standings
  • Schools must register a full team to compete. No individual

RULES:

  • Match winner is determined by total events won (i.e.: win men's and women's singles and mixed doubles but lose both doubles means your team wins 3 sets to 2, or, if you win women's singles but lose all other events then your team would lose the match 4 sets to 1).
  • Teams must play out all five matches for scoring.
  • No ad scoring will be used. This means no deuce, advantage, etc.
  • Teams may play or accept forfeit against other teams with less than three events full.
  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. All those in violation of this police will be required to leave the venue being utilized.
  • No alcohol is allowed on any Chiropractic Games shuttle or venue. Anyone caught with alcohol will be asked to leave the premise, no exceptions.

Beach Volleyball

Dates: Saturday & Sunday
Location: Coconuts on the Beach
FORMAT:

  • Tournament is pool play with a single elimination play-off.
  • Each School may enter a maximum of TWO TEAMS
  • Tournament is coed, at least one female on the court at all times.
  • Pool play will consist of two games that will be played to 21 with rally-scoring.
  • Play-off will be seeded according to won lost records. In case of a tie, tiebreakers are: 1.) head to head competition; 2.) run differential; 3.) total points scored; 4.) coin flip 
  • Play-offs will consist of two out of three games to 15 with a 17 point- cap.
  • Volleyball will count towards the overall team standings.
  • Individual medals will be given to the top three placing teams.

RULES:
Tournament will follow International/USVA rules with the following exceptions/important notations:

  • On first contact, double hit is legal as long as it is a single attempt to play the ball, this includes setting the serve.
  • Ball may be played by any part of the body as long as it is played legally, (i.e.: not a carry or double hit), this includes foot digs. 
  • A player may not contact the net at any time.
  • When the ball is played more than once by a team, at least one of the three hits must be made by a girl. There is no requirement that a male must touch the ball.

Swimming

Dates: November 5 (11 am - 1 pm), Meet November 6 (11 am - 2:30 pm)
Location: Cocoa Beach Sports Complex
FORMAT:

  • The meet will be on Sunday, November 8. The pool will be available on Saturday for warm ups.
  • A complete team will consist of a minimum of four swimming participants (male or female).
  • INDIVIDUALS can compete in just four individual events (as well as all relays)
  • Relay teams will consist of a minumum of two women. Participants may compete in any order or any stroke.
  • Award team points to top six places (rather than just top three) with points 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1.
  • Award team points to just top three teams of relay events (granting more weight to relays than individual events)
  • None of the individual events are co-ed.
  • Individual medals will be awarded to the top three team places
  • All swimmers must check in with site coordinator
  • Swimming will count towards the overall team standings.
  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. All those in violation of this police will be required to leave the venue being utilized.
  • Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at any Chiropractic Games venue or on provided transportation vehicles by the host college. Violation of this will result in forfeiture of the contest.

5K Team Run & 10 Mile Team Relay

Dates: 5K on Saturday, November 5; 10-Mile Relay Sunday, November 6
Location: Cocoa Beach High School 

SATURDAY – 5K

  • Participants must check in 45 minutes prior to race time
  • The 5K Run will consist of a combined cross country and street course
  • Each team will consist of 5 members; at least 2 being female
  • Teams may consist of more females on a team than males
  • If a school does not have enough runners to make a full team those participants may still run and compete for individual 5K medals (1st, 2nd and 3rd place – both for male and female runners)
  • Individual runners or teams not meeting the definition of a Chiro Games running team are not eligible to compete in the 10 Mile Relay for trophies and/or medals

SUNDAY – 10 MILE TEAM RELAY

  • Participants must check in 45 minutes prior to race time
  • The run will consist of each team member running one (1) 2 mile segment of the course
  • To be eligible to participate in Sunday’s 10 Mile Team Relay you must have run the 5K Race on Saturday
  • The top 5 race times for Saturday’s 5K Race will determine your 10 Mile Relay Team on Sunday.  If you have additional runners by Chiro Games definition to comprise a second team (5) those individuals will compete as your second team.
  • If you have an odd number of runners over and beyond the team limit of 5, those runners are eligible to “run for the fun” of it on Sunday combining with runners from other schools and are not eligible to receive medals and/or have their times count toward the overall standing.  If you are interested in combining with runners from any of the competing schools to “run for fun” on Sunday as a relay team, please select your team Saturday before leaving the 5K event and notify the Race Coordinator of who is on your 10 Mile Relay Team.
  • The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams will receive individual medals
  • The combined 5K and 10 Mile Relay team times will count toward the overall standings
  • Fighting and/or leaving the bench or spectator area to participate in a fight in any way, shape or form will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification for the duration of the Chiropractic Games. All those in violation of this police will be required to leave the venue being utilized.
  • No alcohol is allowed on any Chiropractic Games shuttle or venue. Anyone caught with alcohol will be asked to leave the premise, no exceptions.

HOCKEY

Game Rules:

  • All USA Hockey rules apply.
  • All participants are required to wear helmets with a minimum of a half visor or half cage. Players without helmets will not be permitted on the ice.
  • All players must be registered for the tournament.  Only signed rostered players will be eligible to participate.
  • All games must be played in full.
  • All games will have a 1 hour 15 minute curfew.
  • All disputes will be settled by the referees in charge of that game being played.
  • Three (3) minute warm up.  Clock starts as soon as Zam doors close.  Keep all doors closed and STAY OFF the ice while the Zam is on.
  • Games are three (3) 20 minute running time periods, with one time out per team in the 3rd period for one minute.
  • The clock does not stop except for serious injury.
  • All minor penalties should be 3 minutes because of time restraints by using running clock.
  • Last two minutes if 2 goals or less spread you play stop time.
  • No checking. 
  • Fighting, verbal and physical abuse of the officials, rink staff and our complex will not be tolerated! – means you’re ejected and out for the remainder of the tournament.
  • Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted on shuttle buses and or permitted on Space Coast Iceplex Property.
  • Preliminary games are scored on a points system. 1 point for every period won.  ½ point for periods ending in a tie.  1 point for winning the game and 1 point to the team that wins the 3rd period.  ½ point each if the game ends in a tie for a total of 5 points.
  • Regular scoring with no points.
  • Pay attention to the points system.
  • Chiropractic/Medical care is provided throughout the games, at Cocoa Beach High School softball diamonds.
